the Ponies

This friday 17th we are hosting the launch party for edition #7 of THE PONIES street 'zine and the inaugural edition of MoTHER [has words...] from 7 till 10. It should be a hoot and I'm really looking forward to it and pleased to be associated with them both.

The Gallery is looking good and business is starting to take off - onward and upward!

We have some great work by a number of local artists (who I'll introduce over the next couple of weeks) and the range is expanding all the time.
Stay posted!

(the website is getting closer all the time too. no it is. really! skeptics!)

We're baack!

See, I did mention my shortcomings as a diarist. But buckling under severe pressure from those that insist that admitting my faults isn't an excuse for giving in to them, I'm gonna hava nutha go!

We've been trading for about 6 weeks now and have had a couple of openings, our next one is Friday the 27th from 6 till 8. I suppose they're not strictly speaking 'openings' as we don't quite work that way but we are 'open' and 'soirée' is so ... you know!

The collection is coming along nicely, we have some great work by some interesting new artists across all disciplines and still looking for more. I hope to eventually be a showcase of a wide range of local art from music, film and poetry to street inspired art and of course the more traditional disciplines. Our motto is 'local - original' and so long as work fits that we'll look at it.

I'll try from now on to update this blog every couple of days to keep up to date with the artists, the work and generally what's going on. If anyone is interested in what I've been doing between posts go to caryandgemma's blog 'Wherever you may find us' for some of the story.

"I am not a DIARIST!"

It seems that in order to have a blog one must keep updating it else it is not a blog. I did mention already my historical inability to maintain any sort of consistent diary system but with all the best intentions in the world let's give it another go. Which is my way of apologising to anyone who might have tried to read this and found it to be the most boring thing in the world.*

All is coming along with the gallery, the first version of the full site should be up in the next few days, and work is being hung in the real world at the same time and then we shall be open. The idea is for the site and the shop to reflect each other in a dynamic way so that if you see something on the web and you want to come in and have a look at it (or even better, pick it up and pay for it) you can and when you do you'll recognise the place. The intention is not just to be a 'virtual gallery' but a dynamic interaction between the real and the virtual to increase your accessibility to art by local artists for the benefit of all. ** I hope.

To begin with we have some textile pieces, including some lovely blackthread embroidery and unique tee shirts from FAKE, limited edition digital prints by Former West Australian now London based artist Dobrivoje Pesic, and a selection of paintings by E***, with more coming in daily.

two down (one to go?)

"Cary was a young boy when he heard his first Beatles song"...

well here we are again, the place is coming along nicely, walls are up etc, time to fill it up with art - but until then - what do you do with an empty art gallery? You jam of course -

(not) the last post (surely)

So, a blog. Given my previous attempts at keeping a diary of any kind, this will probably be the first of about three posts. maybe not this time.
My intention with this blog is to post information regarding new works and artists, examples of artworks as they come in as well as keeping a diary of events as my new gallery takes shape.
and so on...

once upon a time there was a deli ...
